B1. Late War Uniform B2. H.B.T. Uniform B3. Winter and Rain uniform

1. Cap
M1941 wool knit cap with short visor designed to be worn under the steel helmet. Commonly known as the "Jeep Cap" (on the photo - left). Standard issued to all troops in the Army from mid-1942. Wool knit visorless cap (A-4 Mechanic's), on the photo right, intended for issue to aircraft mechanics. These are often associated with US paratroopers who tended to "acquire" them from the Air Corps personnel and wear them in lieu of the jeep cap. Although officially an Air Corps item, in reality, it's certain that a few of these could have ended up on the heads of any troops in the ETO.
